(Updated March 25, 2020)
The staff at Golden Connections have been monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic very closely. The Pennsylvania State Department of Aging released a statement with some direction for seniors centers on how to continue to offer vital nutrition programs while maintaining the safety of the clients we serve.
Effective immediately, the senior center will be open for nutrition services ONLY. We will be eliminating all additional programming until further notice. The center will be open to run the Meals on Wheels Program as long as we have enough willing volunteers to deliver meals. The Meals on Wheels delivery scheduled will be modified as follows: Mondays seniors will receive a (5) pack of frozen meals. Wednesdays seniors will receive a (2) pack of frozen meals. There will NO LONGER be Friday deliveries.
The center will continue to serve its congregate meal participants through a take-out lunch program. The center doors will be open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday ONLY from 10:30 am – 11:30 am to have seniors pick up meals to take home and consume. Seniors who receive meals on Wednesday will also be able to take home (2) frozen meals to consume on Thursday and Friday.
We will continue to monitor this situation and adjustments to this plan will be made as needed.
